I pity those people who try to get attention by bashing someone. Do they become a Subbudu just because they bash a person at his peak? No.
Everyone has their own opinion. I like Rahman's style of music. There is a little bit of artificalness to all his songs, i agree, he adds layers and layers of it and that is where lies the beauty. A sculptor can sculpt a rock and make it a statue of a God or a Goddess. If a critic of the art goes around saying that it is a stone, it may be, technically, as he sees it, but he fails to appreciate the beauty in the sculpture, the art that was rendered by a master craftsman. So if Rajiv bashes Rahman, he is free to do so, but in my mind and heart, I see the beauty of the work by a master craftsman in the form of Rahman, who at least has the skill to convert a Dhobi to an extra- ordinary singer, which others can do probably once or twice, but not everytime like Rahman does. Honestly, I did not even bother to read the article in its entirety, for it was not worth the importance. I respect Rajiv's opinion, but that is not going to take away the life in me that appreciates the beauty of Rahman's work. I still remember a DD TV interview in which our own respected Illayaraja sir made a statement that music directors who compose music using computers do not know what music is and is not likely to last for even a couple of years. Everyone knows how wrong he can be. Rahman is here to stay and these petty write-ups are not likely to eclipse what Rahman is all about and what he is made of.
