Canadian actress/singer Karen David will be appearing in a lead role in
Universal Studios' prequel to "The Scorpion King" entitled "The Scorpion
King: Rise of the Akkadian", which recently wrapped filming in Cape Town,
South Africa.

"The Scorpion King: Rise of the Akkadian" is directed by Russell Mulcahy,
who holds titles not only as director of the recently released "Resident
Evil: Extinction" starring Milla Jovovich , but also as director of the
first music video ever aired on MTV upon launch of the station on August
1st, 1981. In addition to her lead role in Hollywood's first ever 'prequel
to a prequel', Karen recently wrapped UK filming of a feature role in "The
Colour of Magic" starring Sean Astin from "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy.

No stranger to showbiz, Karen was handpicked at the age of six by Bill Cosby
to star alongside him in a TV commercial for Jell-O. The multi-talented
26-year-old was born in Shillong at the foot of the Himalayas and raised in
Etobicoke, Ontario. After attending Toronto's Cardinal Carter Academy for
the Arts, at 17 she won a scholarship to the Berklee College of Music in
Boston, and proceeded to London to study at The Guildford School of Acting
in 1997.

Karen has since starred in critically lauded stage plays such as Benny
Andersson's "Mamma Mia" musical and landed feature roles in a series of
exciting movies including "Flight Of Fury" starring Steven Seagal and
"Provoked" starring Bollywood superstar Aishwarya Rai.

A music video was also released for "Provoked" performed by Karen featuring
legendary Indian composer A.R. Rahman, who Karen first collaborated with to
assist in the development of material for Rahman's "Bombay Dreams" musical
with Andrew Lloyd Webber, which was staged in Toronto last year.

*Having wrapped filming of "The Scorpion King: Rise of the Akkadian" in
South Africa, Karen's next stop will be A.R. Rahman's studio in Chennai,
India to put the finishing touches on her highly anticipated debut album
entitled "Me Versus Me".
