Earlier today, “the staging of THE LORDS OF THE RINGS”, won the “2007 SOBOM
Achievement of the
Year Award”.

Awarded in past years in recognition of the rebuilding of the Lyceum Theatre,
the reopening of
the Sadler’s Wells Theatre and the success of the first SOLT Kids’ Week in
2000, the “2006
SOBOM Achievement of the Year” was awarded this time last year in recognition
of the success
and popularity of the TV show “How do you solve a problem like Maria”?

SOBOM – THE SOCIETY OF BOX OFFICE MANAGERS

The general aim of the Society is to promote goodwill, fellowship and informed
debate within
the Box Office and Ticketing Industry. The Society aims to promote ideas and
new developments
in Box Office techniques within the ticketing, entertainment and leisure
industries.

Various social events are organised throughout the year, with the jewel in the
crown being the
SOBOM Christmas lunch, which doubles as their annual Awards ceremony. Members
vote throughout
November and December for categories that include Best Play, Best Musical,
Achievement of the
Year, Personality of the Year and, quite often, a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Given the
number of ticket agents in the membership (all the West End agents are members)
results are
reflective of the Ticketing Industry’s view.
