Quite a bit of commotion prior to the music launch......

>From Mumbai Mirror (at naachgaana.com)

"Days after A R Rahman, music director of Jodhaa Akbar, raved about
the music of the film, BIG Music who had acquired the music rights of
the film, has backed out of the project. The film is produced by UTV.
Rahman is reported to have said, "I have tried to keep the music of
Jodhaa Akbar contemporary so that it satisfies both critics and music
lovers."
After BIG music pulled out of the project, UTV is compelled to start
their own music company to bail the film out. When quizzed about the
deal with BIG Music, Siddharth Roy Kapur, COO of UTV Motion Pictures
said, "Yes we were in discussions with BIG Music and a deal had been
finalised. However, UTV and AGPPL (Ashutosh Gowariker Productions
Private Limited.) together decided that we could not get a better
launch for UTV Music than the combination of A R Rahman, Javed
Akhtar, Ashutosh Gowariker, Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai. We had
been thinking of launching UTV Music and we could not think of a
bigger platform than Jodhaa Akbar to do so."
When contacted, Kulmeet Makkar, head honcho of BIG Music admitted
that they were not going ahead with the music of Jodhaa Akbar. He
said, "UTV had started promoting the music with our label, however,
we are not doing the music now because we needed little more time to
exploit and promote the music, which UTV did not provide. I think now
they are going to do the music themselves."
Jodhaa Akbar is based on the life of Emperor Akbar and his wife
Jodhaa, played by Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai respectively."
