In the midst
of all the controversy surrounding
the Nandigram village everyone would
expect this film to be about Buddhadeb
Bhattacharya that we are referring to
but it is on the founder of Buddhism.
This mega budget venture produced by
the Sri Lankan government is to be directed
by the noted filmmaker Shyam Benegal.
The hunt for the actor
to play the role of Buddha was on and
Bollywoods heartthrob Hrithik Roshan has
finally bagged it. Director Shyam Benegal
said that after sifting through a host of
actors they found Hrithiks looks most apt
for the role of the prince who found enlightenment
at a very young age. Search is on for the
actress who would essay the female lead in
the movie. Director Shyam, while speaking
on the project, said that they
are in the final stages of scripting and
would highlight only the key incidents in
the life of Buddha, as it would be very
difficult to epitomize the life of a
person in a three-hour film. From someone
who did a remarkable job with a biopic on
Bose we sure can expect another
masterpiece from this legendary filmmaker.
