It's not every year that one sees ARR as part of as many as four films that are considered 'big' in Bollywood -
t2 presents the 10 big films most likely to emerge winners at the box office
this year.
Film: Jodhaa Akbar (d. Ashutosh Gowariker *
Hrithik Roshan, Aishwarya Rai, Sonu Sood, Kulbhushan Kharbanda)
Plot:
Rewind to Mughal pomp and glory when emperor Akbar was married to
Jodhaa Bai as an alliance between the Mughals and the Rajputs. It’s a
tale of love and war.
Why:
In all probability the last time that Hrithik and Aishwarya will be
seen on screen together. They surely wouldn’t lock lips Dhoom 2-style,
but they will cross swords. And there’s Ashutosh’s storytelling
punctuated by Rahman’s music.
Film: Untitled remake of
Ghajini (d. A.R. Murugadoss * Aamir Khan, Asin, Jiah Khan)
Plot: Inspired by Christopher Nolan’s Memento, about a man with only
short-term memory who wants to avenge the murder of his wife.
Why: Aamir in yet another intense role and
Rahman’s music in this intriguing thriller.
Film: Main Yuvraj (d. Subhash Ghai
* Salman Khan, Katrina
Kaif, Anil Kapoor)
Plot: Another version of Amadeus, hopefully not as disastrous as Shaka
Laka Boom Boom, with Anil and Salman playing two musicians.
Why: Rahman’s score, another chance for Ghai to
show some form, Salman and Katrina together again on screen.
Film: Dilli 6
(d. Rakeysh Mehra
* Abhishek Bachchan, Sonam
Kapoor)
Plot: Mehra’s
autobiographical tale of growing up in a Delhi neighbourhood.
Why: Rakeysh’s next after the revolutionary
Rang De Basanti. Sonam’s next after her promising act in Saawariya.
