Superstar Rajinikanth's younger daughter Soundarya launched the theatrical
trailer of what is claimed to be India's biggest 3D animated feature film,
titled "Sultan the Warrior" on Jan. 13 in Chennai. The Rs 40 crore-film,
directed by Soundarya and produced by Ocher and Adlabs, profiles her
legendary father.

The superstar himself acts in the film and lends his voice. Also launched
along with the trailer was a short film on the making of "Sultan the
Warrior".

An 80-member team is working on the film which would be completed by the end
of this year. Vairamuthu has written all four songs for the film and A.R.
Rehman scores the music.

Talking to mediapersons, Soundarya, who did her Multimedia course at an
Australian university, made it clear that she has no intention of becoming
an actress and she would only direct films. She had earlier worked for
"Chandramukhi" and "Sivaji: the boss". Some animated films had been produced
in India but not on the scale of "Sultan the Warrior. Moreover, no such film
had been made on any other superstar in the country, she claimed.

She said that before agreeing to act in the film, her father had raised some
doubts and she in her capacity as the director, cleared them. She narrated
the story to him and explained how an animated film was made.

She is making the film as a fan of Rajini and so it would meet all the
expectations of Rajini fans. The superstar's inimitable style, mannerism,
punch dialogues, stunts, etc would all be there. There would also be a
villain and a comedian. Would "Sultan" have his heroine? Yes, of course. But
this character is created through animation, Soundarya said.

"My father is happy and proud that I am a director. And I am proud of
directing him," she said.

Replying to mediapersons' questions, Soundarya said she would continue
directing films after completing "Sultan". She wants to direct especially
films featuring her father.

Asked whether she would act and direct, she stressed that she would like to
be behind the camera. She denied any connection between "Sultan" and
"Robot".

Latha Rajinikanth, chairman of Ocher, was present with Soundarya when she
talked to the mediapersons.
