After a long wait in anticipation for the last 4-5 months, prior to
listening to Jodhaa Akbar songs, I was a bit anxious about the
reasons behind this delay. I can only say that the wait was worth
every second !

This album has all the exclusive RAHMAN signatures which I am always
searching for. The songs are extremely Soft, down to earth BUT
inspite of these attributes, the complete album stands out as a
classic product.

Dear Rahman, this is another 10 on 10 effort from you after "Water" !
Your association with Ashutosh Gowarikar has given us another
wonderful album !!!

Some time back in one of the NDTV interviews and later also, Rahman
had expressed his desire to cut down on period / topical theme based
movies. But if I decide to list his best albums, ALL his period theme
movies stand out as his best. Take for example Lagaan, Bhagat Singh,
Netaji Subhash, Mangal Pandey, Earth, Fire and Water. With Jodhaa
Akbar, Rahman has again proved that he and he alone can do justice to
such period stories which need extensive research and planning.
Rahman has aptly caught the bygone era of Mughal empire where, during
Akbar's days, the music scene was dominated by Hindustani classical
performers like Tansen and Baiju Bawra. So, it is but natural for
Rahman also to come up with melodious classical based compositions
with minimum use of instruments.

The songs are lovely and I must mention here the powerful drums from
Azeem-o-Shaan and Rahman voice in Khwaja Mere Khwaja which has that
typical "Rahman" touch of melancholy, a bit of sadness. Beautiful !

And what can I say on the two instrumental pieces ? Listen to them at
night with no external disturbance or sound or even light...... .
extremely soothing ......

The year 2008 has opened up with Al Risalah and Jodhaa Akbar which
are superbly composed by Rahman and I am now eager for the remaining
14 releasesÂ…

Way to go Rahman !

Best regards
