UTV and Ashutosh Gowarikar, the producers of the Hrithik Roshan-
Aishwarya Rai epic Jodhaa Akbar releasing on February 15 has decided
not to release simultaneously the Tamil dubbing of the film!

Earlier UTV had announced that there will be a Tamil and Telugu
version and had also completed the dubbing. The market buzz is that
UTV wanted Rs 3 crore for Tamil dubbing and the Hindi version for
Tamilnadu territory inclusive of Kerala.

But nobody is willing to pay such a high amount, even though Hrithik's
Krissh and Dhoom-2 (with the famous Hrithik- Aishwarya liplock
splashed on all posters) did close to Rs 2 crore in this territory.

The trade in Tamilnadu feels that a historical just does not have such
a potential, added to that Jodhaa Akbar is 3 hrs and 36 minutes too
long for a dubbing film. Ashutosh Gowarikar, the director is also very
particular that not even one scene is deleted from the original
version, as it will be "infringing on his creative freedom"!

So it looks like only the Hindi version will have a limited release in
Tamilnadu. In Chennai as of now only Sathyam (big screen) and Ega is
to release Jodhaa Akbar. If the film turns out to be a hit, then the
Tamil version prints will be released.
