Is Jodha Akbar a true story? I don’t know and I don’t care. It is grand, brilliant and very entertaining. Music is great and choreography awe-inspiring. Prithviraj Kapoor was incomparable in Mughal-e-Azam and being a big fan of the film I could not imagine that anybody could ever do justice to the character of Akbar. Hrithik surprised me- he is regal, imposing yet human. Aishwarya looks beautiful and communicates through her beautiful eyes. Could well be one of her best performances ever. It’s impossible for me to imagine any other actors playing these roles. Akbar speaks in Urdu, Jodha in Hindi - and it’s easy to understand. The dialogue delivery and Urdu diction of Hrithik in the movie is near perfect. His screen presence is tremendous. There was a lot of talk about the length of the film but for the entire 3.20hrs it kept me engaged. Some scenes were memorable- the one in which Akbar tames a wild elephant, the sword fights and the romantic moments between Ash and Hritik when they communicate through their eyes. Azeem-o-Shaan Shahenshah and Jashn-e-Bahara are my favourite songs. The choreography of Azeem-o-Shaan Shahenshah was awesome. Rahman’s background score is extra-ordinary. A brilliant film in all respects and a must see.
