Hi Dina,
I have said it many times before as well,
Despite of the fact that i do not understand Tamil,
"Vellai Pookal" is the best song i have ever heard.
Its so peaceful and soothing that i won't even think twice even if ARR
himself asks me to pick up one out of his all compositions. 

I am still thankful to "Dinesh Vaidya" who sent me Hindi lyrics of this 
marvelous song. 

I agree with you that perhaps Mani Sir made a mistake by putting this
song 
at titles (and that even with many pauses and cuts).
