*New Delhi: *The protests over the screening of "Jodhaa Akbar" for alleged
distortion of history refused to die down even as some theatres in Punjab
and Bihar today stopped the film from showing.

The Ambala administration imposed a ban on "Jodhaa Akbar's" screening in
two cinema halls of the district, following protests by members of the
Rajput community.

The protestors had alleged that the cinema halls had removed the posters of
the film but were still screening it.

In Bihar's Gopalganj, the management of the Shyam Chitramandir theatre
stopped the film's screening after two days of protest by various saffron
groups.

Scores of activists of BJP and its student wing Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi
Parishad had on Tuesday taken out a procession, torn the posters and
threatened further violent action against the theatre management if the
screening was not stopped.

In Ranchi, protesting the film's screening, a group of people under the
banner of All India Rajput Manch tore down posters of the movie and burnt
them near Sujata Talkies.

The film starring Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai portrays the epic romance
between Mughal emperor Akbar and the fiery Rajput princess Jodhaa.

According to Rajput groups, Jodhaa was the daughter of Udai Singh of Marwar
and was married to Akbar's son Salim.

But the film shows Jodhaa as Akbar's wife and director Ashutosh Gowarikar
claims he has the backing of historians and a royal family of Rajasthan to
prove it.
