*Remakes that we would like to see*
  The trend of remakes has generally led to embarrassing duds like *Umrao
Jaan, Victoria No 203 *and *Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag.* Even if Farhan Akhtar's
*Don* scored at the box office, it didn't really garner 'wow' responses as
far reviews go.

At the same time, sprucing up oldies like *Jab Jab Phool Khile* and *Duvidha
* into *Raja Hindustani *and *Paheli* has proved to work well.

Indeed, there's something so singularly fun about planning a potential
remake of a incredible film, on paper, of course. For one, the original has
nothing to lose. It gets fresh mileage and additional

*Abhimaan*

Hrishikesh Mukherjee's sensitive portrayal of marital life troubled by
jealousy and rivalry seems like a relevant story in today's cut-throat
scene.

And who better than real-life couple Abhishek and Aishwarya to carry on the
legacy of Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan's richly played parts. They have great
chemistry and, under nifty direction, could deliver the goods too.

*Speaking of which, one cannot think of a more suitable filmmaker than Mani
Ratnam to helm this tender tale of a relationships and ego. That A R Rahman
will provide a soul-stirring soundtrack is simply taken for granted.*
