It was a well known fact that ARR was behind the scene for IR to be
known as the first music director to use computer in India. However
this claim as IR was the first music director to use also cannot be
denied because ARR might have been an arranger for him at that time
and IR was his music director.
what makes ARR special was the way he filtered the waves to produce
unique and new sounds was something very new. For example he would
just use the noise component (air bursts through the lips) while
Naveen is on his flute. The only higher freq envelope he used in
Chinna Chinna Aasai from the flute sound is a food for the brain for
any electronic engineer. I think he was and is way ahead of any music
directors then to use the electronic gadgets and bring music out of
sound. Seldom we used to listen to Louis Banks who also did a little
of his kind during those days.
