Yes,regarding that Azeemon Shan Shensha,it was pre recorded. In Delhi
Concert,Rahman sang both Azeemon Shahn Shensha and Veerapandi Kottayile, but at
jaipur..he didnt..
And i dont think Rahman forgot lyrics for Humma Humma,i think it was
deliberate...and to be honest..i really loved that Laaaa Laaaa Laaaa part..and
ya it was my Fav. Moment of the concert.. :)
Ya,Overall it was a good concert.
Thanks Nazeef and Shah for sharing your views with the group..

Good writeup Nazeef.
I would like to add to and rather deviate at some points.
The Azeem-O-Shaan_Rukmani_Veerapandi was recorded. Initially I was watching
from the side stage and I could clearly see Sivamani and the local drummers who
had been recruited for the show, just mimicking playing drums. Looked very odd
to me. But live drumming of that kind is tough, given they walked around a lot.
Was this the case in Delhi concert also?
When it came to delivery, it was few notches below the Bangalore concert (which
had significantly higher musicians and remains my reference concert), bits
missed and went out of sync in quite a number of songs.
Rahman badly missed the lyrics in Humma Humma and (Oh my God in) Vande Mataram.
In Humma Humma, he started off with Hindi and went to Tamil (probably because
he didn't remember Hindi lyrics, Teleprompter Nazeef?? What was on the screen?
). And later parts he just hummed - LaLa Laalala LaLa Laalala . . .
And he reduced the pitch while singing in Tamil.
Another interesting aspect is that, bits were added, tunes modulated, tempo
changed, etc. for many songs. And many of that changes were good except for
Hariharan's.
Main Vari ended with Hariharan and Sadhana doing Jugalbandi something like this
-
Sadhana - Main Vari Vari Main Vari Vari
Hariharan- Main Vari Vari Main Vari Vari
...
...
Hariharan- SaReNiSa NiSa SaReNiSa Main Vari Vari Main Vari Vari
Sadhana - SaReNiSa NiSa SaReNiSa Main Vari Vari Main Vari Vari
...
...
More Alaap variations Main Vari Vari in higher Tempos
H - Vari Vari Vari Vari in very high tempo
S - Variiiiiiii... (Soft)
Please excuse my amateurish portrayal. .:) I loved this one the most after
Khwaja mere Khwaja
ARR came dressed as a saint and sat in the front in prayer pose for Khwaja mere
Khwaja. It was a sight! To watch him deliver the song in a trancelike mood.
Overall, this was a good concert - good stage, lighting, crowd, dancers (and
choreography),
What I missed - more musicians, singers (especially Shankar Mahadevan), better
sync, better lyrics delivery and more information on the website
www.arrahman.com It was disappointing to know that the entire first two blocks
were reserved (Some passes for fans? Tough but possible? May be some 100 passes
can be distributed for the free concerts atleast, on first come first serve
basis on the site.)
And the mixing console right in front of the stage was obstructing the view
very badly for a large part of the ground. This is the case in all open air
concerts of Rahman unlike indoor concerts. Can't this placed near the stage for
open air concerts also?
Rapport could do the concerts a lot better for all the millions they are
earning out of Rahman.
Even the rock concerts in Bengaluru have better pyrotechnics. I am not saying
Rahman concert's is bad or average. They are way ahead compared to other Indian
concerts (My guess, apart Rahman I have just attended one Himesh concert. . for
fun that is). But now that Rahman is a Global artiste, we expect Global
standards :)
Rahman concerts will definitely get bigger in coming days and might become
frequent also (All personal guesses).
And I hope he brings lots of talented musicians from his school. Rahman
could and might use his concerts to promote and release his private albums.
Hope we get some private albums soon from him/his label.
