Dude Narendra ! thanks for that video link. This tune/raga is common in
south used in many songs but rarely used in bollywood. That is one fine
song apt for this music forum. Arr has given couple of nos. on
the same tune. Before coming to that, maa song tune & legend director
K.Balachander :
Maa hindi inspired from a tamil hit song sangeetha swarangal
(movie-azhagan by director k.balachander). here is that link
http://youtube.com/watch?v=vmCi2HVQXr0
>From Arr's bank ! the same tune based 2 other songs composed by ARR
>handled in various pitch are from Paarthaale Paravasam movie &
>its song link http://youtube.com/watch?v=gXqFjzRjZ9g
the other Arr one is very famous Pachchai Niramey (Alai Payuthey) dont get
confused about this one in different pitch (what to say, they call
it shruthi if i am correct) but this song is based on same
tune. ARR gave some fine songs for legend director K.Balachander. In all
K.B.'s movies, can hear nice songs from other prominent music
director maestro Ilayaraja. Such is KB's music knowledge & appreciation.
His liking is more for carnatic tunes & melodies.
Another old song belong to maa tune is Kamban engu ponaan song handled
differently rhythmic (movie-Jaathi malli another KB's) link here
http://youtube.com/watch?v=Hn9Wds8p8LY
His movies will be with a message to society that vibrate with
real life characters. Commercial formula is not KB's preference
& are little like punnagai mannan, thillu mullu, duet &
forgot to add some more. Roja & Annaamalai are two big productions of his.
The revolutionary Roja movie (in all technical contexts with music) is KB's
Kavithaalaya Productions. Roja by KB with Mani Ratnam & Arr is a
perfect mixture of every wonderful aspect handled, camera
work, script, music & bgms for a commercially successful formula.
Wondering why KB sir is not making more movies these days though he
crossed his 100th movie mark with Paarthaalay Paravasam with ARR. Duet is
another musical hit with Arr. KB always used interesting style of
story telling with good humour sailing with real life plus double meaning
dialogues not in bad sense but always in good philosophical
sense & good songs till date starting from the year 1970s?
from his sarvar sundaram, bama vijayam, neer kumizhi, iru kodugal,
avargal......... to sindhu bhairavi, unnal mudhiyum thambi, azhagan, vaanamae
ellai, jaathi malli. (how if Arr now works for a sindhu bharivai
remake ? full carnatic based) K.B.'s movies & music are not for
masses excluding his commercial hits.

HI All,
Some time back I had recieved ARR CD collection from my
friend, which I had stored in my PC. The colletion had one Hindi Song
sung by a female singer, the title of the song was "Maaa......" the
song was on relationship between Mother and daughter.
That was the first time I heard that song and was not sure
that was composed by ARR and from which movie. As my PC got formatted I
have lost that song and I am not able to find it again any where.
Does any one of you know, which movie is that song from.
It is about 3.5 minutes and very melodious.
Thanks and Regards,
