Mysore, June 19- Kannada Sahrudaya Balaga, CFTRI, will be hosting the Raagapella music programme in association with the Department of Kannada and Culture on June 22 at IFTTC auditorium in CFTRI premises at 5.30 pm. The entry is free to all music lovers. Raagapella is Stanford University's all-male South Asian focus A Cappella group. They are dedicated to music while pursuing undergraduation, graduation and even post-doctorate at Stanford University, United States. Raagapella is a combination of "Raaga" and "A Cappella" words originated from Indian and Latin languages. Raaga refers to the melody of Indian classical music and A Cappella is the Latin word for a style of music with pure vocal and no musical accompaniments. This group of musicians are famous in America as they add South Asian flavour to their music life in the University. The team is popular as they present quality fusion music while entertaining South Asian audiences with well-known Hindi, Tamil, Punjabi and Telugu tunes. The team is well-versed in popular Bollywood music, apart from having the knowledge of diverse range of songs from traditional Karnatak music to alternative rock in store. Raagapella was started at Stanford University in 2002 by a group of Indian students. Raagapella is a unique group of musicians who perform music with sounding of instruments like Veena, Violin, Piano, Guitar, Flute, etc., without musical accompaniments. They have performed music in September 2006 at the Hollywood Bowl to an audience of over 15,000 alongside Indian music maestro A.R. Rahman. Again in June 2007, they performed music along with A.R.Rahman, Hariharan,Chitra, Sukhwinder and Sivamani.
