The purpose is not copy,, but to make the song more beautiful. in another way its a sign of appreciating old music/song.... another example is in movie Oram Poo in song Muyelekkum Amaikum race got old music is played in Distortion Guitar and the song also follow the old melody... did by GV prakash... in Arinthum ariyamelum in song Thee pidikka song got old song music right... it is not intended to copy.. but its a trend... Nowadays u can check all the music directors do that cause its a trend and u shoud appreciate Rahman cause he started it long time ago but other director is doing it now. The idea came from him...
