Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na Manasi Paresh Kumar Hindi (U/A) Cast: Imran Khan, Genelia Director: Abbas Tyrewala Praise the lord! The era of simple story telling is finally back in Bollywood. Oh! how we missed all this while. Forget the special effects, forget the gimmicks forget all the leaps and bounds in the technical department. Film making is essentially about telling a story and Jaane tu hits bulls eye here... and pretty much with everything else.
Abbas Tyrewala who claim to fame was the dialogues of the Munna Bhai series gifts a refreshing film that is just what the doctor ordered. In a nut shell, the story is not much to talk about. Two best friends who take a while to realise they are in love with each other and I know you guys are thinking.. what’s new about that? Well just the whole treatment, the witty dialogues, the freshness, the relatable characters and most importantly the perfectly cast ensemble of actors. Whether it is Ratna Pathak Shah explaining to her sobbing daughter that the last five years of college flew by while she spoke on the phone or Jayant Kriplani and Anuradha Patel’s priceless look when they realise they are probably looking at a ghar jamai. It is moments like these that are the film’s USP and there is no dearth of them. Imran Khan exudes the same effortless charm that his Aamir mamu ushered in with QSQT and bowls you over as Jai Rathod, that exasperating kid that you would want to kill if he wasn’t so darn cute. Genelia, his partner in crime is also beautiful and endearing as Aditi. And thank you Maverick Rehman for the music. We’ll be humming it for a very long time. Bole tho picture mast hain mamu. Miss nahin karneka!
