In my opinion, a better way to deal with them is to present the facts like some people did as to why it is not a lift. Ofcourse the calls for removing the person for sending such a mail is fascist to say the least. When we have such a big group, there will be differences of opinion and we need to encourage that to a certain extent rather than squash them as soon as they erupt. Many people are not be music savvy so get confused between beats and the tune. A simple explanation would suffice.
