There is nothing insulting in it. It is frustration. That person is unhappy not getting a chance to work with ARR, and he is expressing that.
If any of us, ARR fans, goes to produce/ direct a movie somehow, the MD of choice would obviously be ARR, but if ARR refuses to do your movie, you would also feel let down, disappointed, frustrated, angry. It is natural. he didn't say any bad thing about arr. There is just a hint of ARR doing favoritism, bias, partiality and so on. I think it depends on individual's perception and doesn't really reflect anything on ARR in any case.
