Friends,

Please dont mistake me. I am not trying to make something controversial here.
Neither I am denouncing his capabilities. As an admirer of his music, i
naturally feel good if he is associated with best projects and not
controversial ones. Ofcourse, we do not have a right to decide what he should
do and what he shouldnt. we are not capable too.

Yet, my only point is about westernizing and rap part of it. If Rahman composes
thirukkal (i am sorry if i spelt it wrong, i am not a tamilian), with great
artists of classical music, i would be first to grab the cd. because you can
instantly expect purity in it. But when an album (be it any composer) is
marketed with an aim to take it closer to youngsters by westernizing it, i feel
they lost the logic. Why is it that Youngsters is equated with
Westernization? We have many classical musicians whose fans include many
youngsters. at the same time, many western songs are liked by many old people
too. The moment one decides an agenda such as youngsters - western - rap, i
feel the purity is lost... in dilution.

We have 100s of devotional-fusion type of albums these days, where chants and
mantras are sung along with beats. In the name of fusion, whats been dished out
is different. How many are making a mark with people? in market? in music scene?

I am not saying Rahman will sacrifice melody and all. Infact it is premature
for us to discuss this all. I am writing this mail only to reason out my
apprehension, primarily because of the westernize-Rap element involved.

As always, I will be very glad if rahman throws up a pleasant surprise.

Regards
Kamal Aakarsh Vishnubhotla.

hi guys..
its a good news but even i fear abt this news.. the reason is " the remake wil
undoubtedly be good to hear , but will people of all generations accept it?"
the youth wil start liking it very easily.. the question is abt our older
generation people.. they jus wouldn accept this idea i feel...
anyway as of now lets wait for the big show..

better than the original. have faith.
