Likes and dislikes are very personal matter and individuals choice. As far as I am concerned, I adore Rahman's music ( ALL songs ) But for others, I allow them space to have their own choice of songs whennever I travel in others cars. Similarly there must be sections amongst Non Resident Tamilians who like ARR or some other director.
BUT it is a fact that once you like Rahman Music for whatever enlightenment you have, you become a RAHMANIAC for life. I haven't come across anybody who liked Rahman earlier and now doesn't like. They are hooked forever... Regarding Rahman's popularity, he is verymuch a force to recon with in Indian film music ( any language ). For our RAHMANIA shows in PUNE we got crowds, average 1000 per show, new as well as repeat audience. For the Tamilians in PUNE, we introduced recently CHANDRALEKHA song from Thiruda Thiruda and it is one more hit song in our list. But the most striking aspect about Rahman's music is that the LOYALTY of his fans towards him........Haven't come across such loyal fan following for other artists in music world, both western or Indian.... Rahman is RAH-e-MAhaN afterall !
