Classical music is always attractive Shes quite a favorite with composers like AR Rahman but work is not anyones monopoly today so play backing offers are few and far between but Madhushree is not the kind to sit back and relax, so she comes to listeners with anew album singing thumris. A new album from you? Yes Ive just recorded an album titled Laagi lagan. This is a thumri album. Why thumri? You know I love thumris and keep crooning all the time. I enjoy singing them better than khayal even. I know that young people dismiss it as classical music which they wont understand but I was keen on doing something besides my usual film singing and shows. How has it turned out? Ive taken all the famous thumris like Ka kahun sajini Laagi tose lagan etc and sung these. Ive used modern music arrangements as a concession to new listeners. Youve some unusual videos I believe? Yes there are two videos one is story based and one dance based. Weve done unusual stuff like belly dance and tango, its really nice. Yes I thought its time to do something for my own pleasure and classical music as a form is always attractive.
