Anil Kapoor's first International project also starring Irrfan Khan, *Slumdog Millionaire* is going to premiere at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival. The festival is being held in Toronto from September 4 – 11. Acclaimed British filmmaker Danny Boyle who has directed films such as Trainspotting, 28 Days Later and Sunshine has directed *Slumdog Millionaire*. Anil Kapoor is expected to attend the premiere along with the rest cast and crew of the film.
The film is based on the best selling novel Q and A by writer Vikas Swarup and has been shot on location in Mumbai. It is the story of an illiterate young boy (Dev Patel) a resident of Mumbai's infamous Dharavi slums who becomes a contestant on the Desi version of the famous game show, *Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?* in order to re-establish contact with the girl he loves, who is an devoted fan of the show. Hollywood big studios Fox Searchlight and Warner Bros. have teamed up to distribute the film. The film also has a few more Indian names attached to it. Sukhwinder Singh has sung a song for the film given music by A.R. Rehman which has lyrics by Gulzar. Earlier, Amitabh Bachchan was offered the role of the quizmaster since he had played the part on the *Kaun Banega Crorepati* with great effect. But after he expressed his inability, Shah Rukh Khan was approached but then the King Khan cited date problems and excused himself out.
