I really wanted Rahman sir to sing in Chennai 28 Venkat Prabhu , Director of Chennai 600028 and Saroja speaks..
First, he came up with Chennai 600028, a movie on gully cricket that not many thought would be a success. However, the film went on to do well at the box-office and surprised even supporters with its reach and appeal. Then, for the audio release function of his next project Saroja, he ensured that two master musicians A R Rahman and Yuvan Shankar Raja shared the stage (something which many in the industry circles said would never happen). On A R Rahman sharing stage with Yuvan: I really wanted Rahman sir to sing the World cuppa Jayikaporum... song for me in Chennai 6000028. But he could not sing for us then because of a a contract that he had signed with a big music company. Again, I wanted him to sing the Nimirndhu nil... song in Saroja but even that didn't happen for the same reason. The contract expires only next year. I told my dad that as Rahman sir hadn't sung a song for us, he must at least come and release the audio of the movie. My dad talked to him. I then "tortured" Rahman by sending him several messages until he finally relented.
