So, I discovered that ARR used a song Paper Planes in Slumdog M and checked it out. It was fantastic. Then I looked up MIA and she turns out to be a Tamilian-Britisher. Furthermore her last album Kala was Rolling Stone's number one album of last year. I think there is a ARR- MIA combination song also in Slumdog M.
So I got hold of Kala and her first album and they are brilliant. Incomprehensible lyrics that seem to have meaning through the nonsense (rather like Dylan, I think)coupled with a kind of Neo-Classic Electronica Rap. Question I have for you in India, especial Tamils, is what if anything is the status of MIA music in India? Has anybody ever heard of her, or is she well known, or what? Stevan Davies
