Point out to him that there have been rumours that Harris's decision to part ways with him may have been influenced by his choice to work with A R Rahman in Chennaiyil Oru Mazhai Kalam and the director says, "The decision to work with A R Rahman in that project was taken a year back." Draw his attention to the fact that Harris had said that the rift had started a year back and ask him if this could be a reason for the break-up and he just smiles.
There was difference of opinion over the Pachchaikili Muthucharam project between him and Harris. Quiz him on this and Gautham says, "I think the problem with Harris is he tries to dominate. I have no ego and I have no problem with that. If I know somebody's right about something I take it from them. And I know that when it comes to music, he's a genius. "I do a film because at that particular moment, I want to make a film. It is my attempt at moving away from the ordinary. For Chennaiyil Oru Mazhai Kalam, he said, 'Gautham, think big. Stop thinking small.' I don't like that. I'm okay with suggestions but I want to do what I believe in, because I'm inspired by an idea. You might not know what that idea is.
