*Lyricist and adman Prasoon Joshi tells Ankit Ajmera how he manages to think
differently every time he takes up a new project*

Whether it's writing lyrics or making an ad, lyricist and adman Prasoon
Joshi has managed both quite efficiently. His recent work comprises lyrics
of the upcoming film Gajini.

When asked what's unique about the lyrics of Gajini, he says, "I have done
lots of new experiments with my writing in this film. For example I have
broken the word masti in a song into its components (mast-ti) and
personified them by portraying that Mast is incomplete without ti. It may
seem crazy but I never did anything like this before.

Thankfully it was liked by Aamir (Khan) and (AR) Rehman. This has been one
of the most challenging films for me. I say so because there were instances
where the tune was in never-ending phrases and I had to work on short
sentences and make it elongated by adding meaningful words."

While his lyrics in the last film Taare Zameen Par were soft, the lyrics of
Gajini seem to be very different. How does Prasoon manage to switch gears
between films and create idiosyncratic lyrics? He says "I am from an
advertising background and I function the same way while writing lyrics. I
read the script thoroughly and do as much research by talking to the
director and actors."
