i think ARR should be nominated for the oscars 2009, and he deserves it. well i didn`t see the film yet, but on the scores of the soundtrack i can say that the music is too strong to compare with the others. check out, mausam & escape;latika`s theme. the dark knight score is okay, quantum of solace score is an average, nothing new, the changeling is odd, wall-E is a hit. so let`s see rahman or elfman. but this year is for rahman, and he will be the first indian composer to recieve an oscar. from ishaan ` SHAFAQ ` rahman

I think ARR has a very strong chance for the best song category but I doubt if he even gets nominated for the best score (I'd love to be proved wrong though).The reason being there was not much material/scope for the score as ARR himself mentioned that Danny Boyle wanted the songs themselves to be the score. I also think that the academy is heavily biased towards string heavy/orchestral scores which SDM is anything but.
