Even Murugadoss,the Director wouldn't have anticipated the marketing clout and the finesse of this ace buzzdoctor-cum-actor and his pan-Indian presence.
Ok,lets call it his Global fan presence.I'm sure he wouldn't had even in his wildest and most psychotic dreams,the slightest idea about the effect a movie as a product turns and evolves in the hands of Aamir Khan. Aamir is unique in this respect.he is every Marketing Mandarin's Dream celebrity. *For,he has this amazing ability of thinking from BOTH SIDES at the same time - of the producer and the viewer.* Together with that abundant talent and charisma as a 'thinking' actor,he is a dream package. And he markets it well too. He makes himself scarce.he will have you dying with curiosity about his next project,and when you almost think you are at the end of your tether,he comes up in bits and pieces about his new project which have you frothing at your lips,out of control. More than Xmas,(come on,lets face it,it ain't gonna be any different from last year,we all know it),it is this singular event that has the already crumbling entertainment market look up and pray in fervent hope. *If there is anything that is going to give some solace to Bollywood in 2008,this should be the one.* And there can be only Aamir Khan who can think up these quirky ways to spread the news of his movie and raise the curiosity levels to fever pitch before G-Day. First of all,the umpteen brands that he endorses have been sweetly "coerced" to ride along on his "GHAJINI" trail. Van Heusen has come up with the Ghajini Series of Office wear shirts.Not to be left behind,Samsung has pitched in with content dissemination for the movie.(After all,he's been prancing around land,air,sea,fire and jumping over mountains for nothing!Get my drift?). If GSM is here,can CDMA be far behind?TATA Indicom has also joined the bandwagon with the GHAJINI keyword! Not to be outdone,the close cousin of Reliance Infocomm,BIG entertainment had their Multiplex staff (over 100 of them) went took the BOLD BALD step and followed Aamir with his "scantily clad" head look!! And AR RAHMAN's scores piping in day in,day out of our non-stop FM radios. So much for the Buzz. Everybody wants this to be the BIg One this year. And by the way MULTIPLEXES are packing it in for RAB NE BANAYA JODI,the Season's chief competitor for GHAJINI,the carpet bombing of shows seems to have its effect. On last count,KING KHAN's Reality Dance Movie has broken records of Singh is Kinng in PVR,INOX,BIG,VELOCITY and TOTALS!!!! Maybe Aamir would follow suit. Strangely,the Leading Lady,ASIN and her matters of Ghajini seems to be silent in this big Marketing Drivel. I wonder why.Aamir shrugs it off with his characteristic comment of "Asin is a surprise package and a wonderful person. She will surprise audiences with her beauty charm and performance." Oh,yeah! G-Day is round the corner. Aamir and his 8-packs along with the tonsured head and tattoos are buzzing overdrive with the movie's publicity drive. One wonders,would it be worth the hype? You can only wish it to be the best X'mas present santa left for Bollywood in a looong time! PS: For all you conspirators and sniggerers who have been accusing Aamir of remaking the Tamil version,here is Aamir's slash of vengeance.He is reported to have changed the last 30 minutes to a different ending!Guess Aamir plotted his revenge much too early.
