Thanks Raghu for posting this interview. I had missed it and was lookin for it since years. The interview was so spiritual.
It gave me goosebumps when ARR sang 'Damadum mast kalandar' because its one of my most favourite too and listenin it form boss was like wow! Most of my wishes for ARR has came ture (MashaAllah) like ARR gets recognisition through out the world, he becomes No.1 music composer, he collaborates with international pop icons etc. I wish from my heart that ARR recompose and sing 'Damadum mast kalandar' in one of his movies or albums. That would be great. There is no rights issue involved in this matter because anyone can do it and it has been already done by several singers and musicians. This qawalli is almost 500 years old written and sang by the sufis. Till now so many people have done this qawalli in their own style and almost everyone has done it betifully, the one of the best I think is done by 'Junoon' (pakistan rock band, sayoonee one) in Rock music. Praying for A.R.Rahman that he brings GG and Oscar awards along with him to India. InshaAllah.
