Chicago, Jan 12 (PTI) A R Rahman's historical win at the Golden Globe awards
has left the local Indian community here hungry for more, as expectations
are now high that the music maestro repeat the feat at next month's Oscars
as well.

Rahman became the first Indian to win the prestigious Golden Globe Award for
his song 'Jai Ho' in the movie Slumdog Millionaire. He won for Best Original
Music Score.

Notwithstanding stiff competition from movies like Brad Pitt's drama 'The
Curious Case of Benjamin Button', Indians here are hopeful that Rahman would
create history at the Oscars as well.

"Rahman winning the Golden Globe award for Slumdog is absolutely well
deserved. This has taken appreciation for Indian musicians beyond the
national boundaries. The Golden Globe increases his chances for an Oscar,
which will be another well deserving feather in this talented musician's
hat," said business analyst Neha Gattani.

Echoing similar sentiment, marketing manager in an IT firm here Anubhav
Srivastava said the Slumdog team should begin groundwork for the Oscars now
that they have won the Golden Globe.

"With such a prestigious award in their kitty, they should now aim for the
Oscars and begin lobbying for it," Srivastava said.

Nomination for the Oscars would be announced on January 22. PTI
