If i'm not wrong he got trained on Carnatic from T.V.Gopalakrishnan and Dakshnamurthy. And Hindustani music from Krishnanand.

Not doubting that ARR is great in classical. In fact, he is superb and sublime in it. He has revived the use of classical music in films like never before. The only other example of recent time is Kisna's classical song by ID. I am not able to recall any such classical songs in mainstream popular bollywood films by other MDs in recent times. That is why I am feeling curious to know what classical music (or is it Karnatic music) formal training has he got? or is it self learned? And while we are at it, could someone mention what classical/ Karnatik music formal trainings other popular MDs have got - Nadeem Shravan, Anu Malik, Himesh, Vishal, etc. -- Rawat
