Slumdog hopeful of being nominated at Oscars

New Delhi: Slumdog Millionare
has already bagged four coveted Golden Globes and multiple Bafta
nominations. And now it is said to be the front-runner for the 81st
Academy awards nominations that will be announced on Thursday in
Beverly hills, Los Angeles. 

Director Danny Boyle is keeping his fingers crossed for it. “You should go for 
these things, expecting nothing. Just having the delight of being in the 
season,” says director Danny. 

Slumdog Millionaire
is expected to be nominated in categories of Best Film, Best
Screenplay, Best Director and even Best Original Soundtrack Oscar for A
R Rahman's score. 

“Let’s
hope. I don’t want to comment anything on the Oscars because it is a
totally different committee. It is better to say 50-50,” says A R
Rahman. 

Other Oscar hopefuls this year are - Double golden globe winner Kate Winslet 
for her role in both Revolutionary Road and The Reader, Meryl Streep for Doubt, 
Brad Pitt for The curious case of Benjamin Button and Sean Penn for his 
portrayal of gay political activist Harvey Milk in Milk. Frost/Nixon, Mickey 
Rourke starrer The Wrestler and Angelina Jolie's Changeling are the other key 
contenders. The 81st Academy Awards will be announced on February 22 at the 
Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles.
