As I mentioned in an earlier message, IFMCA (International Film Music Critics Association) did not nominate SDM in any category (they have many categories). Find it here http://www.awardsdaily.com/?p=6028.
If you see the comments, this has started a discussion whether SDM will be nominated for Oscars or not and whether it deserves it etc. some people there mentioned that SDM might not be nominated because it entirely consists of songs and no background music (songs have been used as BGM). someone there (named Ash) also added that criteria of Globes is different from Oscars. Oscars only considers music and not songs as the score. and they look anything with even minimum vocals as a song. so this would mean if SDM gets nominated it would only be for Millionaire, Riots and Mausam and Escape, as all the rest includes vocals (even the humming in Latika's theme). I am not sure if this is true, neither that person Ash is. someone here with more knowledge of score and Oscars' criteria please explain. this getting me worried because if it is true then it would be hard for ARR to even get a nomination. i really hope it is not true. some expert please add more about it.
