Singer Srinivas ( Srini )

Hi Rahman!. This is singer Srinivas here . If I am here as a playback
singer, it is definitely only because of Rahman. In fact, I got the interest
and yearning to compose only because of Rahman. So, most of the credit to
whatever I am today goes to Rahman. These are not just mere words.

I think the scene changed completely in 1992, when Rahman came on to the
music scene. A lot of new talents started coming in. If you take any
composer today, he will have a 100% influence of Rahman. That's because,
every keyboard player is a big big rahman fan without an exception. So, I am
very very happy to be associated with him, and if I have a position in the
Industry today, its because of Rahman. I am really really thankful to him.
I have sung a lot many songs for him.

Kaiyil Mithakkum Kanava Nee – Ratchagan

In the line " Unnai Mattum Sumandhu Nadanthal ……….." , he didn't compose for
that line. There were certain old tunes which were existing. As I was
singing the previous lines of that song, he suddenly composed the tune for
these lines and he told me the tune, and I had to sing it immediately. The
openeness with which he does things is something remarkable.

When we achieve little success itself, it grows up on our head. He has
reached unimaginable heights of success as far as music is concerned (
especially somebody from the film music scene ). After tasting this much of
success, how does he remain so rooted ?. How does he remain so simple ?. I
want to know from Rahman, as to how do you handle so much of success, and
how do you remain so humble ?

ARR :- I think….. Srini… Are you complaining, or keeping ice on me ( He
laughs ) …Ok Srini. I think its important for all of us know that none of us
are immortals. This life is like a station , isn't it ?. Anyhow, we have to
go to the next station. So, it's a journey with a limited time. So, there
would be no use in jumping. So, we should do whatever good we can, and keep
going. This is the philosophy.

I have seen the tragic death of my father and grand mother at a very young
age. I don't feel that this life is so important. At the same time, we
shouldn't be doing something bad to people, and should strive to do good. We
should try to bring love in art. This would be the underlying fact. So,
thank you for the question.
