"He is a genius, and so simple". While he is working in the studio he
is completely in a different mood, he does not force a singer or any
artist to complete the work in a "hard and fast manner". But after
the recording is over he goes and meets the artist he makes them feel
comfortable. Even if he is a star singer he will be very polite and
gentle (adds) "Rahman is after all Rahman".
This a story of a young guy from Rajkot, Gujarat who
has worked with A R Rahman for 4 years. Gaurav who has worked with
Rahman for 4 years says that " Rahmanji has recieved this Golden
Globe Award is a very proud moment for us, but i think it is too late
for him to recieve this award, because the way i have seen Rahman Sir
working is just amazing all.... these years.He always works at night.
"Nobody knows what kind of changes and modification
will he give to a song. Everything is a surprise for us. He comes to
the studio and explains us whatever he wants.He is very clear in his
veiws and what kind of output he wants.He is very focused while
recording For Example - If he wants a sound of a roaring tiger, that
sound must be original and he is very particular about even the
smallest sound.There was piece of a particular song where he wanted
to record only for a half minute, then too he conducted an orchestra
of 100 musicians to record that half minute. When he is in mood he
calls for a Pan (mouth refresher) filled with 'Gulkand'. I remember
when he got the delivery of a new system names Yufonik 55, he came
down his house and we all were standing down. He called me he kept
his hands over my shoulder and gave me 500rs in my pocket. This is
the way Rahman gifts his musicians and artist when he is happy.
Mr. Gaurav Bhupendra Vasavda from Rajkot has gained
good experience, he has also programmed many loops and rythms for
Rahman Sir using softwares. Gaurav has worked in projects like
Zubeidaa, Lagaan, Legend of Bhagat Singh, Nayak and many more.
