I don't agree that the main reason D6 is selling well is due to the
Slumdog hype as mentioned below. D6 is selling well because the music
is incredible with only some help from the Slumdog hype.

KOCHI: The A. R. Rahman fever is turning infectious in the city.

His latest album, Delhi-6, is a runaway hit.

Music aficionados have lapped up the maestro's work especially after
the genius received accolades globally through the track `Jai Ho' in
`Slumdog Millionaire'.

Retailers said Delhi-6 had a slow opening but spread like wildfire later.

"We are unable to meet the demand. And is expecting the next load of
CDs. The response to the album has been phenomenal," said Ramesh, a
dealer in the city.

Die-hard Rahman fans vouch that the album is refreshing and exciting
to listen.

"My favourite is Masakali sung by Mohit Chauhan.

The song is simply wonderful. And I often touch the repeat mode to
hear the song while driving my car," said Aishwarya, a management
student, who always owns Rahman's albums on the first day of its release.

Even critics of Rahman admit that he had worked hard on the album.
"It's a mix of various genres. From experimenting with the Sufi style
in Arziyan sung by Javed Ali to the rappy Kala Bandher, Rahman has
spread out a variety that is irresistible," said Unnikrishnan, a
marketing professional in the city.

Music dealers in the city attribute the sudden spurt in sale volumes
to the hype revolving around `Slumdog Millionaire'. Rahman's
forthcoming attractions include Mani Ratnam's bi-lingual movie
starring Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai (Hindi), Vikram, Prithviraj,
and Priyamani (Tamil) and Ashutosh Gowarikar's What's Your Rashee?
