Hi Chord, my answer for above question is clearly no. Since Roja, I've been observing that Rahman carries a distint style and flavour in his music which instantly bonds with any human being. For Rahman, songs are not just about raagas and music theories, but it's a personal experiences, tragedies & knowledge which he faced since his childhood days. How do you think he composed riots in bombay with bombay theme, slum life with "O Sayya", devotion with Ishwar allah/pal pal hai, patriotism with VandeMataram, Azadi.. there so many for example. I'll give a quote of ARR as below... "If a music artiste wants to blossom into a full-pledged person, it's not enough if he knows only classical music; nor it's enough if he's well-versed only in raagaas and techniques.Instead, he should be a knowledgeable person interested in life and philosophy. In his personal life there should be, atleast in some corner of his heart, a tinge of lingering sorrow." Even today there are talented MD's similar to yesteryear with latest technology, like JL, VS, SEL, YSR and Monty. But still they can't prove their versatality and consistency in music... :) --- In [email protected], "Chord" <purev...@...> wrote: > > I don't like to compare composers of different times using blanket > statements.
