G.V Prakash- Music director/Rahman`s nephew
I am extremely happy, in fact the happiest Indian today. Rahman is the
costliest diamond in the world.
No one can match his hard work and commitment to work and he has been doing
this since Roja days when he made his debut as a music director.
I have no words to express my state of mind. Our family owes it all to the
blessings of God and our elders. Rahman does not work for awards, recognition
or to be in the lime light and I strongly believe that people who are
spiritual, follow the path chosen by God and works hard will remain humble and
down-to-earth. He should have won Oscars much early but nevertheless- its
better late than never.

I am a proud Indian. My two films- Godfather and Ghajini had music by Rahman
and my next film 19 Steps directed by Bharath Bala will have music by the
maestro.
He never ceases to surprise you at regular intervals and there is no stopping
this music legend. Its very difficult to tell you my favourite album, but
Ennavalae.. from the Tamil film Kathalanused to be my personal pick. And now it
is Masabkali… from Delhi 6.

“I was hundred percent sure that Rahman would win the Oscars and went ahead and
gave advertisements in the newspapers a day before.
The man is so humble, simple and he truly deserves this recognition. I am a
huge fan of his and pick up any album irrespective of who is the director of
the film. It’s a tribute to all the work he has done so far.
I watched the Oscars and thought that the first award was well-deserved and the
second one was double whammy for his millions of fans. I got Goosebumps while
watching him perform.
And talking about Resul Pookutty and the kind of work that he has done in our
films is amazing, especially in Gandhi My Father. It’s really overwhelming to
see an Indian flavour at the Kodak theatre”.
Rahman makes music out of silence. He is so quiet and I knew him right from his
early struggling days and consider him as my son or brother.
I wish his dad R.K Sekhar was alive to see this historic and glorious moment of
his son winning an Oscar. I have sung a lot of Malayalam songs under the baton
of Sekhar, and was also privileged to sing under his son Rahman. I think Rahman
is going to be a role model for the youth of this country as he has proved that
hard work and determination is the road to success.

Rahman and Resul Pookutty, both truly deserved to get the Oscars. It was a
great moment while I watched the Oscars on Television. I have worked for 2
films with Rahman and both had outstanding songs. He is a wizard, a genius,
better than the best. And it’s not a joke for Resul to compete with technicians
of the world cinema to get the Oscar.

`It is an unbelievable moment for India and personally for me it is a great day
as I`m a big fan of Rahman and his music. I also wish Resul Pookutty all the
best”
