Rahman said this in a press meet organized at Vadapalani(Chennai)
Green-Park hotel where more than 400 members had turned up including
pressmen, cinema artists, video cameramen and other technicians and
this was telecasted live in most channels.
He also added that had
IR tried a different strategy in promoting his music to the mass, he
would have got an Oscar a long time ago and praised Illayaraja saying
there is no boundries for Illayaraja's music and Oscar award is nothing
compared to his genius in composing.
When asked if straight Indian
movies could also win Oscar awards, Rahman said it is possible but
there is a pattern/formula for impressing the jury at the Oscar and
should our film makers crack that formula and play the right strings we
could win Oscars for Indian movies as well.
