*Twin Oscar winner **A R
Rahman*<http://www.apunkachoice.com/celebrities/a_r_rahman/>
* is a very spiritual person. More than once he has stressed that his music
is an expression of his spiritual quest.

*A man who prays everyday and often makes pilgrimages, Rahman has another
side to him which is seldom spoken about – and rightly so – in media. That’s
his spiritual side. Not many people know that he had composed songs like
“Khwaja Mere Khwaja” (from Jodhaa
Akbar<http://www.apunkachoice.com/dyn/movies/hindi/jodhaa_akbar/>) and
“Maula Maula” (from Delhi
6 <http://www.apunkachoice.com/dyn/movies/hindi/delhi_6/> ) for personal
reasons rather than for the movies in which they were eventually used.

The talented composer even speaks of a unique spiritual experience he had
last year while he was on a pilgrimage. He goes on to say that his recent
Oscar glory pales in comparison to the spiritual experience he had.

And just a day after he returned from Los Angeles, Rahman visited the famous
Ameer Peer Dargah in Kadapah district. He had visited the same shrine before
leaving for the Oscars where he created history by winning two statuettes.

On Friday he offered prayers at the same shrine again.
