*Mumbai: *Double Oscar-winner AR Rahman will be crooning at a concert in
Kerala to support an initiative by an NGO aimed at rehabilitating HIV/AIDS
affected children. Many popular musicians and singers of the country are
expected to join hands with the maestro for this event to be held on April
14th, including long-time friend Sivamani.
 DNA
Rahman wants to give back something to the people from who he has received
so much love and affection for so many years.

According to UNAIDS, a mammoth 2.5 million are infected with the deadly
virus in India, making it the third highest in the world. Only half of this
population has some access to preventive measures. HIV-positive patients are
wary to come out in the open even today because of the social stigma
attached to the disease. Sex education is still not welcomed and prevention
programmes are shunned too.

A source close to the event says, "Rahman wants to tour various Indian and
world cities. Logistics have not been confirmed yet, but this concert will
most probably kick-start the proceedings. Rahman wants to give back
something to the people from who he has received so much love and affection
for so many years. The proceeds of the concert in Thiruvananthapuram will go
for the cause."
