Funnily, ARR slips two positions from last year - moves from 6 to 8. Filmfare has got it all wrong. Neither 8x10 nor Rockstar is by ARR. They don't even know how many awards they have given him. And they don't even consider him important enough to grace their cover even in times of such spectacular success.
Filmfare Power List 2008 Overall ranking No. 8 A.R.Rahman Rank 2007: 6 What he did: He started the year with a rather melodious Jodhaa Akbar, then followed it up with some sparkling music in Jaane Tu..., Yuvvraaj and Ghajini. And then came the mother of all music, Slumdog Millionaire. It won him the Golden Globe and who knows, maybe even the Oscars. So does his presence in the power list surprise anyone? Naaah! Future Projects: Blue and 8x10 are just around the corner. Mani Ratnam's Ravan and Imtiaz Ali's ROckstar are also ready. Filmfare Tip: Hey, we know the west is wooing you, don't forget us. Filmfare Awards: 22 Musicians Rankings No. 1 A.R.Rahman Rank 2007: 1 What he did: He delivered us into another era with Jodhaa Akbar, then reminded us that he still is the sound of modern India through Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, Yuvvraaj and Ghajini. Oh yes, lest we forget, his Slumdog Millionaire won us the first ever Golden Globe and BAFTA trophies and coveted Oscar nominations. Future projects: His Masakalli from Delhi-6 is already a hit. The music of Mani Ratnam's Ravan too is mindboggling (my note: did they mean mindblowing?!) acccording to insiders. Then there is Blue also waiting in the wings. Filmfare tip: Please don't cross over to Hollywood just as yet, sir. Filmfare Awards: 22
