Kandukondain Kandukondain, according to me, has by far been THE BEST combination of people associated...!!! Mammotty, Tabu, Ajith, Aishwarya Rai, Abbas....and above all ARR and Vairamuthu...!! What more can you ask for...??. Moreover...the subject demanded more classical blended with western type of music..!! Hats off to Rajeev Menon for his perfect choice as his team..!!! Kannamoochi Enada.... remains my all time favourite song of ARR for my entire life...!! And when it comes from a powerhouse performer like Chitra ji.....you cant get better.... Also the long yearned combination of K J Yesudas ji and Chitra ji itself mesmerises us in other version of this song..!!
Yenna Solla Poghiraai.... is amongst the best of the best of Shankar Mahadevan - ARR combo..!! Whatta composition...whatta rendition...and whatta picturisation of the song...an absolute blissful treat for the viewer...!!! Kandukonden Kandukonden...the title track....Hariharan and Mahalaxmi Iyer both compete each other in this romantic duet....and ARR has just played the flutes and many other instruments like anything..!!! Yengae Enadhu Kavidhai ...... Again Chitra ji...this time with Srinivas doing the backing vocals.....got a great carnatic touch and an extreemly heart wrenching patho song..!!! Chitra oozes with emotions and ARR has again done magic here Suttum Vizhi Choodarthan......Could anyone imagine that the greatest Tamil poem would get rejuvenation again and more importantly without changing the original elegance?? ARR is a Master in this.....Hariharan's velvette vocals adds an attractive creamy layer....Fantasy at its best...!!!! Smiyai.... made the singer Devan an overnight starry singer...it was a great experimented western kinda song... Dominique Cerejo's cute hummings are also notable here.... Coming to the introductory song of Aishwarya Rai.... Konjum Mainakkale.....sung magnificently by the veteran singer Sadhana Sargam.... Flawless Tamil dictions by Sadhana ji is the main USP of this and ofcourse ARR's sheer brilliance in instrumentation...!!! All together put....Kandukondain...to me has been one of the most memorable ARR albums ever...!!!! The only thing that is royally missing here is ARR's voice....!!!!!
