The event saw a hustle-bustle of celebrities and members of the Mahesh Memorial Trust. The guests of honour included Justice Prabha Sridevan, A R Rahman and N Srinivasan, Managing Director, India Cements and secretary, BCCI, who inaugurated the ward in the memory of the late composer and music director Mahesh Mahadevan. The ward caters to the medical and boarding needs of children between the age of three and twelve. Bringing to light Mahadevan’s belief that no one should fight cancer alone, the trust has spent six years in funding and building the functional ward. Speaking on the occasion, Prabha Sridevan went in to a nostalgic moment much to the amazement of the audience. The ward was designed and executed by a team of architects under the supervision of Architect Sujatha, who is also part of the Mahesh Memorial Trust. The ward built has the facility of a Montessori, a dining room, a play area and three consultation rooms. Besides building the ward and handing it over to the Cancer Institute the trust aims to provide for the facilities the ward and the children availing treatment demand. Many have supported the trust in their own ways like Thotta Tharani who will be providing a sculpture to adorn the entrance area. The other names that add to the list are Shalini Biswajit and Evam Entertainment. It was an occasion where celebrities came together for a cause.
