Kozhikode, Tuesday 21 April 2009: The ‘Jai ho’ music programme in Kozhikode on May 3 featuring A.R. Rahman has been insured for Rs.3.5 crore by its organiser Global Kerala Initiative Keraleeyam against unexpected rains and disasters.The organisers said the programme had been heavily insured in view of the tremendous public response it had evoked from within and outside the country, it being Rahman’s first public programme after winning the Oscar.Superstars Mamootty, Mohanlal and Suresh Gopi will be in the city on May 3 to felicitate Rahman, the organisers announced on Monday. To add local flavour to the show, 30 drummers have been invited to take part in the show. The drummers will be chosen by musicians accompanying Rahman..Rahman himself will lead a training session arranged for them on May 2. Drummers interested in performing at the show have to register with the reception committee office of the ‘Jai ho’ programme on Mavoor Road before April 24.The selection will be made at 11 a.m. on April 25.All members of the Kerala Chamber of Commerce have agreed to buy tickets for the show. Industries Minister Elamaram Karim, who is also chairman of the organising committee, handed over the tickets to the president of the Chamber T. Abdulla at a function in Kochi recently.
