The Alliance Francaise of Madras is conducting a special festival of Indian movies from 22nd June to 26th June 09 at the AFM Auditorium, Chennai. Five films directed by eminent Indian directors will be screened at this festival followed by a short discussion about the films' technicalities. The Alliance Francaise of Madras has been very active in identifying and promoting films which have made an impact and has raised awareness about Indian cinema. Here is a list of some of the films which will be screened. 23rd June - *Bombay:* It is an award-winning Tamil feature film drama directed by Mani Ratnam, starring Arvind Swamy and Manisha Koirala, with music composed by A.R. Rahman. The film is centred on events, particularly during the period of December 1992 to January 1993 in India, and the controversy surrounding the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya. 25th June - *Zubeidaa: *It is a 2001 film directed by Shyam Benegal and written by Khalid Mohammed. *Zubeidaa* stars Karisma Kapoor, Rekha, Manoj Bajpai, Surekha Sikri, Rajit Kapoor, Lillete Dubey, Amrish Puri, Farida Jalal and Shakti Kapoor. http://hindi.galatta.com/entertainment/hindi/livewire/id/Festival_of_Indian_movies_in_Chennai_26634.html -- regards, Vithur
