Says A.R.Rahman, “Connections is a very special album of songs done at various
stages of my life.” After conquering the Golden Globe and the Oscars, A. R .
Rahman is here with a line-up of memorable numbers. Connections takes the
listener through some songs and symphonies composed and sung and now handpicked
by A. R. Rahman.
“All the songs mean a lot to me and I hope the album will be enjoyed by all,”
says Rahman. The album has the maestro’s personal favourites like Khalbali
(Rang De Basanti), Dil se re (Dil Se...) and Meherbaan (Ada) and also includes
the never-before released track Jiya se jiya. Connections also has Rahman’s
first English language release Pray for me, brother and his immensely popular
and cult classic Bombay Theme. In the true sense, it reflects the maestro’s
“journey through anthems” and is a must-have for every Rahman buff.
Released exclusively on Universal Music, Connections is also available in a
Collector’s Edition Pack that features the Rockstar Version video of Jiya se
jiya. For the first time ever, Rahman appears in a zingy new avatar grooving
alongside ace percussionist Sivamani. Also a part of this pack is Jai ho (You
are my destiny) the collaboration between A. R. Rahman and The Pussycat Dolls
featuring Nicole Scherzinger.
The maestro's personally-handpick ed favourites in this Collector's Edition
Pack that also includes the 5.1 Surround Sound Experience of the video Jiya se
jiya, the brand new Rockstar Version video of this song and the Single CD of
Jai ho by The Pussycat Dolls featuring Nicole Scherzinger.
Jiya se jiya is a thundering track that features A. R. Rahman on vocals with
percussionist Sivamani and the exotic Drum Café (Mustafa Kutoane and Mpho
Masinga). This track binds you to one emotion – love for all fellow-humans. The
video showcases exactly these sentiments in 5.1 Surround.
Pray for me, brother, sung and composed by Rahman in aid of the United Nations
Eradication of Poverty by 2015 Programme is a touching video. There is also a
moving Instrumental version that adds further dimension to this number.
Ek mohabbat - Vote for Taj is the song that A. R. Rahman has dedicates the Taj
Mahal and a celebration of eternal love and beauty that it represents. This
song was a part of the ‘Vote For Taj’ campaign when the new Seven Wonders of
the World were being chosen by popular vote.
Among the other Rahman picks are the video of Jai ho with The Pussy Cat Dolls
with Nicole and the Dolls in Indian get-ups prancing around a Vienna train
station. Rahman appears at the enigmatic chorus proving a sight for his fans.
This is a very personal album with a special ‘note of thanks’ by Rahman in the
inlay that provides additional value for money to this collector's item. Aslam,
Nasim, Karthik, Naresh Iyer, Blaaze, DJ A-Myth and A.R.Rahman are the vocalists
while there are DVD tracks as mentioned above.
The lyricists include Prasoon Joshi and Gulzar. The collection traces Rahman’s
vocals as evolved across Hindi and English in his roller-coaster career that
began in 1993 with Roja and in Hindi with the 1995 Rangeela.
A R Rahman - Connections in a Collector’s Edition Pack (DVD + CD) is priced for
Rs 245. The CDs are available at Rs 125.http://www.screenin dia.com/news/
